About Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Before an aircraft leaves the ground, it undergoes mandatory routine maintenance and checks to ensure all parts are functioning. An aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) checks for worn-out and non-working parts and replaces them to ensure an aircraft is ready to fly. How to Become a Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

After passing the entrance exam, candidates must undergo a counseling process to secure admission to DGCA-approved institutes based on their ranks. The course is four years long, with two years dedicated to academic programs and the remaining two years for live training. Upon completion of the program, DGCA issues an AME license to the candidate, which is mandatory to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Eligibility Criteria

Target Audience

  • To be eligible, candidates must have passed the 10+2 board exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), or hold an AICTE-approved 3-year engineering diploma in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks.
  • The candidate’s age at the time of admission must fall between 16 and 28 years.
  • Candidates must not have any physical disabilities or color blindness that could potentially affect their work.
  • Candidates must pass the SSAAT examination to qualify for the program.
  • Those who are eligible for a B.Tech degree in any stream may also pursue AME courses.
